Five Stars for Five Star Mechanical! Apr 3, 2025

FIVE STARS for Five Star Mechanical!!! Please know we waited since the end of August to write this review. We wanted to test and see how the AC and the heat pump worked in order to make a thorough and meaningful review. All work was perfectly done right the first time and the units they installed all functioned perfectly and exceeded our expectations. We are very pleased with the extensive project that this company and its employees had completed on our home. I say employees as this company sent well-trained workers directly employed by them (not subcontracted). We had 2 huge AC units; running at 11 SEER. (low rating for cooling by today's standards) Two Tranes one had pooped out and the other ran at 3 kW an hour OUCH! We settled on replacing both Tranes with the Bosch heat pump condenser 20+ SEER rating for cooling and a much more efficient cost-wise for heating saving a lot in natural gas during the shoulder seasons. We had matching Bosch air handlers installed in the attic. Variable speed which is a huge difference in the units that they replaced. Heating from early spring to late November. When the temperatures outside are above 35 degrees. They set it up as a hybrid system, below 35 degrees the gas furnace operates, and above 35 degrees the heat pump operates which is a significant saving on the cost of natural gas. This was a big project and Five Star professionally emailed written specific and complete estimate and set the date and arrived on time; they sent well-trained, polite, professional employees. I kid you not there was notable talent in the crew. Some were powerfully strong and one genius, Matthew, I must mention ran the wires from the attic to the units he fussed to make it perfect. He ran the wires to the new wifi thermostats and patiently conveyed the operations of these advanced controllers. Five Star properly guided us for our needs, they applied for the PSEG rebate and arranged for the check to be directly sent to us in our name. The rebate was a nice percentage of the cost of this project. They also prepared an official Certificate of Capital Improvement form ST-124 and emailed it. Every phone call was answered by a courteous, competent helpful staff member. We took two previous estimates and the other two companies did not even come close to the honesty and professionalism of this outstanding company. UPDATE...4/3/2025. I wanted to convey that. We signed up for the maintenance contract end. We had a winter maintenance and a spring maintenance since. It is well worth the cost as once again. A very knowledgeable service man, Matthew did both services as well as install one more Honeywell Home T10+ Pro Smart thermostat. Now every thermostat in our home is controllable via my cellphone anywhere. A great convenience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ STAR is still highly recommended! Thank you✨️

Had a 17-year-old HVAC unit in our home which we needed to replace. Reached out to the local community for recommendations for a reputable installer. Landslide vote for 5 Star Mechanical. The initial consultation was done by Chris, who was super informative and super helpful with all of the questions/concerns that I had. The staff at the office kept in contact throughout the process and was super helpful in preparing the rebate information for me to submit to the gas company. Top notch and super friendly. Rodolfo, Chris, & Edison were the team that was sent to get the new system installed. They were always prompt and super respectful of your property. Drop cloths everywhere, shoe/boot coverings when coming in and out of the house (little details make a huge difference to some). Most importantly they did an AMAZING job. The whole job ran one day over through no fault of their own. Turned out to be an issue with a circuit board that required someone from the manufacturer to come out and remedy. Cannot recommend this place enough. From start to finish it was an amazing experience. It's always smart to shop around when getting a large project like this done. I'm glad this company was on the list.

We had a two-zone Daikin heat pump installed, matched with the new Endura indoor units. All work was perfectly done right the first time and the units they installed all functioned perfectly and exceeded our expectations. We found gold when Amana manufacturer gave us “FIVE STAR MECHANICAL”!!! What a lucky day that was!!! Sadly, we did not know of FIVE STAR MECHANICAL last year and had another company install central air conditioning. We realize things happen… nothing is perfect. However, the new unit had several service calls over five months and never worked, and the old company refused to get us a new unit under the warranty. When we contacted TOM from FIVE STAR MECHANICAL… wow, we didn’t know they made people like that anymore! Remember, Tom did not install our unit last year. He did not make any money off of us at the time of the first call. Tom was motivated and eager to get this unit up and running or replace it under the warranty, even though his company did NOT install it. Tom brought a rep from the manufacturer the first day and Tom diagnosed the problem and got us a whole new AC unit and could not be more honest or more eager even if it were his own unit that malfunctioned. We were so impressed with his work ethic, honesty, and drive. Tom was very clear what the problem was and swapped out the AC unit for a new one. The best customer service in the world and we trusted Tom and FIVE STAR MECHANICAL. What a fantastic find!!! We will refer this company to ALL!!! We suggest you utilize them for any repairs, annual maintenance, and installations etc. The office staff was equally diligent and professional!! They have EARNED this review! At their initial visit, they identified some maintenance issues, performed a tune-up, and returned that same afternoon after I called to ask a question about some work they performed. When their service tech Alex came another day to perform the maintenance recommended, he was knowledgeable, helpful, efficient, and even braved a swarm of mosquitoes to attend to my AC units.
